My Experience At The Labor Day Holiday Essay - 1422 Words

This week was a very hectic week, being that it was a short week because of the Labor Day Holiday. I cannot talk about this week without talking about my job. Waking up Tuesday Morning I had my day planned out. I was going to go into work for a little while and then go to my field placement. However, when I went into work on Tuesday that plan went out the door and my entire day was spent at work. My stress level immediately went through the roof thinking about how I am going to get my hours in for my field internship. I identify with a Type-A Personality; I sometimes have problems dealing with the feeling of being unproductive, although technically I was at work doing my job. I am a type of person that values structure and an am inpatient with delays. Over the years I have learned how to manage the anxiety that comes with my personality. I have learned to just stop, live in that moment and to control the things that I can presently. After my melt down, I sat at my desk and took several deeps breaths and told myself that I will deal with my field placement on Wednesday. I also reminded myself that I am a Social Worker and throughout my career I will be dealing with inconsistencies whether it be directly related to my job or a client. Furthermore, I reminded myself that dealing with being a wife, mother, graduate student and Social Worker is going to be stressful, but manageable.
